2017 The Slaughters Valentines 10k Final Instructions for Runners Thank you for entering the Slaughter Valentines 10k road race on Sunday 12th February 2017.
The race starts at 10.00am Car Parking Unfortunately due to the wet weather over the past few weeks parking is very restricted. There are spaces in the village these will be also be used by visitors to the village. There is limited parking at the HQ. Please car share where possible
Race HQ – Bib Number Collection & General Enquiries The Slaughters United Cricket Ground Church Furlong Copse Hill Lower Slaughter GL54 2HY
Race HQ opens at 8.45am for collection of race numbers.
Changing and Toilets – There are very limited changing and toilet facilities at Race HQ. Please note that there are no secure kit storage facilities, however you are welcome to leave personal belongings in the Cricket club at your own risk.
Before the Race You are responsible for being suitably fit and healthy to participate in this event. Please ensure that you write your name, emergency contact details and any relevant medical information on the reverse of your race number. Fix your number to the front of your vest or t-shirt with safety pins. Do not cut, fold or otherwise alter your race number as this makes it difficult for the race officials to record your number as you cross the finishing line. Your race number must be clearly displayed at all times.
The wearing of personal listening devices using earphones such as iPods is strictly prohibited as they may prevent you from hearing traffic, runners overtaking or marshals’ instructions. You will be disqualified if you are seen wearing such a device.

10:00 Start of race The Race The race will start at 10:00am prompt and will be run under UK Athletics rules.
The race consists of one short lap followed by a longer lap and will be clearly signposted and supported by marshals wearing high visibility jackets. Please be aware that marshals are not permitted to direct traffic, which has priority. There are no drinks stations on the course, but bottled water will be available at the finish. After You Finish Please ensure that you remain in the finishers’ area until your race number and time have been recorded by one of the race officials. Once this information has been recorded, please move out of the road area to wards the cricket club for yours and others safety.
It is very important that you notify one of the officials at the finish line if you drop out after the first lap so that we can account for you.
Prize giving Prizes will be awarded to: 1st, 2nd 3rd Man and Woman A draw will be made from all runners bibs for a spot prize
We aim to get the results confirmed and present the prizes as soon as possible. Whilst you are waiting, please feel free to stay at Race HQ and enjoy the refreshments. Refreshments Tea, coffee , soup and a selection of cakes will be available from Race HQ
Results – Results will be available on our website https://villageruns.wordpress.com as soon as possible after the race.
Weather If we experience a fall of snow or any other adverse weather in the days immediately prior to the race, a decision will be taken on Friday 10th February as to whether the race can go ahead. If it becomes necessary to cancel the race, an email will be sent on the evening of 10th February to advise all runners, so please ensure that you check your emails for any updates if we do have a change in the weather.
